Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk may be preparing to step down from his role at President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In a recent Fox News interview, Musk admitted that he’s “done with cost-cutting,” sparking speculation about his future in the administration.
However, he stopped short of confirming whether he would officially resign.

During the interview with Bret Baier, Musk claimed that DOGE has the potential to slash $1 trillion in federal spending, bringing overall expenditures down to $6 trillion.
“The government is not efficient, and there is a lot of waste and fraud, so we feel confident that a 15% reduction can be done without affecting critical services,” Musk stated.
Musk was appointed special advisor to Trump, leading a cost-cutting initiative that has been highly controversial, particularly among Democrats. While his mission was to streamline government spending, the initiative led to widespread layoffs, drawing backlash from critics.
